THE PUPIL TRANSPORTATION Our Vision TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT
OF BETTER AND SAFER AAPT History AAPT was founded in 1949, by bus
drivers to support and learn new and safer methods Purpose The AAPT Constitution states the purpose as follows: 1. To work for better and safer transportation equipment in the schools of Arizona. 2. To work for the adoption and enforcement of laws which are of concern to school transportation. 3. To work for a uniform method of loading and unloading students for the entire state. 4. To further the relationship between bus drivers, school administrators and other school officials. 5. To provide for efficient training facilities for school bus drivers of Arizona.
Functions AAPT conducts two functions a year: 1. The State Road-eo Competition is held the second weekend of March. This event consists of a written test based on a drivers knowledge of the Minimum Standards and CDL, which is the regulations for school bus drivers, and a driving skills test. The winner of this event is then sent on to the International Road-eo as Arizona's representative. 2. The AAPT Annual Conference, a 1 day function, is held the second weekend of October. This is an opportunity for transportation personnel to come together and network, learn valuable information, receive DPS updates, and just have a good time. The conference consists of workshops, general assemblies, awards and other activities geared to enhancing the knowledge base of those persons employed in the field of pupil transportation. The conference is open to all transportation personal through out the state of Arizona. Newsletters Newsletters are displayed at
www.azpupiltransportation.org, updated 4 times per year. Membership Membership is from October to
October of each year.
